Key issues:
To meet the EU's ambitious 20/20/20 targets, Poland needs to move away from its coal dependency to more environmentally friendly energy resources. Key elements in meeting these targets include developing and incorporating nuclear, wind, biofuels, and other renewables sources into Poland's electricity generating capacity. Poland is working to create a market-based financial and regulatory environment that supports the renewable energy sector and assures an adequate energy supply at reasonable costs to consumers. Adoption of new technologies and simplified regulatory environments will help to lower costs and promote the sector. This panel addresses what can be done to recognize the full potential of the sector in Poland.
