Key issues:
Poland is the European leader in shale gas development. Progress in this sector could bring substantial economic and energy-security benefits to Poland. While exploration continues, Poland needs to address envirionmental, regulatory, and infrastructure challenges. The U.S. and Poland have cooperated extensively on shale gas development, and continued public and private U.S.-Polish cooperation in this sector can help ensure success. Many American companies are actively exploring in Poland, bringing with them their technical know-how and best practices. In addition to exploration and drilling, there are potential opportunities for American firms in engineering and related services. This panel explores what Polish and American firms and governments can do to help this sector develop.
